IT Support Technician, Network and Desktop

Summary

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Install and configure new computers and other IS equipment.
  • Track, prioritize and document hardware support requests using the IS support request system.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all hardware and software issues.
  • Set up, install and monitor networks (LAN and WAN). Perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation, and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and user satisfaction.
  • Keep accurate written and computerized records, maintain appropriate databases and ensure the security of data and information.
  • Research computer hardware & network products and make necessary recommendations.
  • Implement data and voice communication systems, install these systems and provide maintenance and other necessary support services.
  • Install network and other cabling
  • Maintain WIFI network and hand-held scanner/barcode units for shop floor
  • Maintain teleconferencing/audiovisual equipment and instruct users.
  • Assist with PLC/industrial automation connectivity needs
  • Windows Server 2008 administration
  • Maintain backup system for file servers and in-office desktop computers.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Knowledge of networking concepts, common network software alternatives and various IT hardware solutions.
  • Ability to operate within a multi-tasking dynamic environment and exercise own initiative.
  • High level problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use personal judgment and employ strong decision making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, management and communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior, helpful communication in interaction with users.
  • Motivated self-starter

Education and/or Experience

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • 4 years experience in IT support
  • 2 years of college or Associate’s degree
  • Proficiency in supporting standard office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

  • Ability to safely work in a shop floor/hard hat area as well as a standard office environment
  • Ability to pull cable and climb ladders safely
