Quality System Technician

Summary

Position exists to provide a Quality Systems person who is fully knowledgeable and technically competent in doing Quality System processes, and also possess the skills sets and experience to audit the daily Quality Systems functions and quality group routines. Provides quality assurance and control expertise to the group for the purpose of assuring quality manufactured and completed flexible pipe products within the established safety, quality and production guidelines.  This position requires minimal supervision in very unique situations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

·         Performs internal quality audits on processes outside individual’s department

·         Responsible for procedural compliance of the working Quality Management System, including 3rd party interface and ISO 9001/API Q1 compliance

·         Responsible for facilitating quality receiving inspections; including ensuring receipt of required documentation, performing inspections, reviewing HSEQ Technician receiving reports when done and ensuring accurate input into VQ. Responsible for ensuring appropriate release of accepted materials or components

·         Generates Supplier related Nonconformance Reports; including ensuring placement of hold tags and isolation of nonconforming materials and components

·         Coordinate and performs quality process audits, identifies process anomalies and opportunities for improvements, writes and routes follow up reports to appropriate managers to ensure effective corrective or preventive actions are implemented

·         Provides monthly, quarterly and/or yearly Quality statistical data to Quality Manager as specified

·         Performs analytical studies and reports as specified by the Quality Manager

·         Follows up on NCR actions to ensure proper closure

·         Assist in quality training and in training inputs

·         Assist in ensuring shift HSEQ coverage in the absence of a shift HSEQ Technician or inspector.

·         Facilitates implementation of new inspection processes; including R and R studies

·         Ensures proper product release and Visual input accuracy

·         Inputs quality data; including statistical data

·         Assists in quality problem solving facilitation; continuous improvement activities

·         Perform all reasonably related additional duties as assigned by the Quality Manager as required.

Qualifications

Applicant must possess a minimum of an AS degree plus 2 years of experience in a recognized Quality Assurance/ Control position or a High School diploma and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a recognized Quality Assurance or Quality Control technical or greater position. Applicant must also have an ANST level III certification in at least one NDE method or equivalent training and experience in NDE. A working understanding of ISO 9001 is also required. Lead auditor and/or Quality engineering qualification and experience are preferred.

Education and/or Experience

·         All requirements must be accomplished in the primary business language, which is English.

·         Individual must have the ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

·         Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence 

·         Must have the ability to effectively present information to top management or other groups

·         Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

·         Must have the ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

·         Must possess the ability to write, edit and implement process procedures.

·         Must possess leadership, planning and organizational skills.

·         Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 

·         Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

·         Must have the ability to recognize and address any potential problem quickly, present workable solutions, work directly with management and the HSEQ group in the problem solving process.

·         Attention to detail is a must; therefore, continuous analyzing of the on-going process is necessary to recognizing and preventing potential problems.  It is this individual’s responsibility to set the example in this area.

·         Must possess a high degree of verbal communication skill to ensure daily activity successes

·         Must be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier. 

·         Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Must have regular attendance on the job.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
